Dukun Cilik Jombang : Rationality Vs Magic Power?

Tadi saya berselancar sebentar ke situs Surya online, dan menemukan berita unik “Dukun Cilik Jombang, Mengaku Punya Tugas Menutup Semburan Lumpur Lapindo“, dan pada berita tersebut telah timbul perdebatan apakah kekuatan supranatural Muhammad Ponari (10 tahun) mampu menyumpat semburan lumpur Lapindo di Sidoarjo. Muhammad Ponari merupakan seorang bocah yang menjadi ‘dokter ajaib’ ketika ia menemukan dan memiliki “batu ajaib”. Bocah kecil asal Dusun Kedungsari, Desa Balongsari, Kecamatan Megaluh, Jombang, dikabarkan telah menyembuhkan ribuan pasien.

Setiap hari ribuan orang mengantri untuk diobati oleh Ponari sejak subuh hingga sore hari. Hal ini membuat Ponari menjadi anak super sibuk di Indonesia. Ia ‘rela’ tidak mengenyam pendidikan seperti teman-temannya dan hanya mendapat pendidikan pada malam hari oleh beberapa guru sekolahnya. Saking hebatnya penyembuhan ala Ponari, ribuan orang yang sanggup mengantri hingga berjam-jam dan berhari-hari. Karena lamanya harus mengantri, maka dikabarkan telah ada dua orang pasien Ponari yang tewas akibat mengantri lama.

Polemik : Rasionalitas Vs Supranatural

Kekuatan penyembuhan Ponari melalui ‘batu sakti’nya menimbulkan perdebatan sengit, apakah pantas kita mempercayai hal-hal yang ‘absurd’ secara rasionalitas sains. Sedangkan bagi mereka yang mempercayai kesembuhan dari ‘batu sakti’ Ponari, berargumen bahwa itulah kekuatan Tuhan yang hadir melalui sang bocah kecil atau juga mereka sangat percaya dengan kekuatan ‘batu sakti tersebut”.

Jika beradu argumen, maka untuk sementara orang sains (rasionality) kalah dengan orang yang percaya dengan kekuatan ’supranatural’ (kekuatan magic). Mereka yang percaya secara rasionalitas harus melakukan uji coba atau eksperimen untuk menyanggah pendapat para ‘magic power’-ers, sehingga mereka (rasionalitas) butuh waktu untuk menjelaskan fenomena yang unik ini. Sedangkan para ‘magic power’-ers dapat mudah berargumen dengan landasan iman atau fenomena luar yang dapat terlihat. Para magic power’-ers tidak butuh waktu yang lama untuk menjawab dan berargumen, tinggalkan mengeluarkan senjata paling ampuh, “ada kekuatan Tuhan disana”.

Bagi para rasionalitas (ilmu pengetahuan dan sains), senjata kedua yang paling ampuh untuk mencounter para ‘pemuja magic” adalah dengan membiarkan (bahkan mendorong) Ponari melakukan aksinya di lumpur Lapindo. Apakah Ponari akan berhasil atau sebaliknya era “magic” hanya menerima tamparan malu?

Khusus untuk artikel kali ini, saya tidak mengemukakan opini dan ulasan pribadi saya. Saya hanya ingin melihat sejauh mana sikap, pola pikir, dan keyakinan masyarakat Indonesia saat ini dalam menanggapi fenomena unik. Apakah masyarakat Indonesia cenderung bersikap mencari sebab dan alasan dari suatu fenomena atau mereka yang hanya percaya pada fenomena unik dengan dasar keyakinan atau iman.
Untuk itu, saya harap anda menyampaikan komentar dan tanggapan, apakah Anda adalah seorang yang lebih rasionalis, supranaturalis, keduanya atau bukan keduanya?

DREAMLAND IN BALI

I'm ever gone to dreamland in Bali..

Dreamland is a white elephant, donated to the people of Bali by Tomy Suharto. Actually it wasn’t really donated, it was grabbed, mangled, then taken back. Riding along Jl. Uluwatu on the Bukit, one passes a grand looking entrance complete with statute. A long 4 lane road takes you down towards the coast, passing construction that seems to be frozen in time. ‘Is this place on the way up, or on the way down?’ you might ask. When I arrived in Bali in 2003, the place was on the way down, with locals manning a barrier, demanding a fee from vehicles accessing the beach. They were replaced by soldiers, who themselves tried, on occasion, to get a fee. Yesterday it was the security staff of the new resort construction company, who waved at us as we sped past.

Before all this nonsense began, Dreamland was the biggest white-sand beach on the Bukit. The beach is still in good shape and there are maybe 20 warungs there too. Construction is in full swing, at the point on the 4-lane road that branches off to Dreamland beach. Devin and I had to ride through road construction, over slick mud and then down the heavily rutted slope to the parking area. It is possible to get bikes and cars down almost to the beach.

1. Campurkan semua bahan A dengan menggunakan mixer hingga rata2. Masukkan bahan B sambil diaduk hingga rata3. Masukkan bahan C dan aduk hingga rata4. Naikkan kecepatan mixer dan aduk hingga ½ kalis5. Istirahatkan adonan selama 30 menit6. Aduk kembali adonan dengan menggunakan mixer hingga kalis7. Istirahatkan adonan selama 10 menit8. Potong adonan seberat @ 50 gr dan bulatkan, kemudian istirahatkan kembali selama 10 menit.9. Bentuk adonan dan letakkan di atas loyang yang sudah dipoles10. Proofing sampai adonan siap untuk dioven11. Masukkan adonan ke dalam oven bersuhu 1800C hingga matang12. Angkat dan poles dengan butter cream serta taburi dengan keju parut.

SNOW WHITE & THE SEVEN DWARFS

A beautiful girl, Snow White, takes refuge in the forest in the house of seven dwarfs to hide from her stepmother, the wicked Queen. The Queen is jealous because she wants to be known as "the fairest in the land," and Snow White's beauty surpasses her own. The dwarfs grow to love their unexpected visitor, who cleans their house and cooks their meals. But one day while the dwarfs are at their diamond mine, the Queen arrives at the cottage disguised as an old peddler woman and persuades Snow White to bite into a poisoned apple. The dwarfs, warned by the forest animals, rush home to chase the witch away, but they are too late to save Snow White from the poisoned apple. They place her in a glass coffin in the woods and mourn for her. The Prince, who has fallen in love with Snow White, happens by and awakens her from the wicked Queen's deathlike spell with "love's first kiss."
Walt came up with the idea for "Snow White" when he was only 15, working as a newsboy in Kansas City. He saw a major presentation of a silent film version of the tale starring Marguerite Clark. The screening was held at the city's Convention Hall in February, 1917, and the film was projected onto a four-sided screen using four separate projectors. The movie made a tremendous impression on the young viewer because he was sitting where he could see two sides of the screen at once, and they were not quite in sync.
For a while after its release the film was the highest-grossing motion picture of all time, until it was finally surpassed by "Gone With the Wind" a couple of years later. This statistic is all the more surprising when one realizes that children were paying a dime to get into the theaters in 1937, and the film, of course, had great appeal to that age group. The original worldwide gross was $8.5 million, a figure that would translate into several hundreds of millions of dollars today. In England, the film was deemed too scary for children, and those under 16 had to be accompanied by a parent.
"Snow White" was the first animated feature film ever. Costing $1.4 million, and featuring such classic songs as "Someday My Prince Will Come," "Heigh Ho," and "Whistle While You Work," the film was in production for three years and utilized more than 750 artists. From many who auditioned for the voice of Snow White (Walt turned down Deanna Durbin), he chose the young singer Adriana Caselotti. Harry Stockwell, the father of Dean Stockwell, did the voice of the prince, and many radio and screen personalities were selected for other roles, including Lucille LaVerne as the Queen and Billy Gilbert as Sneezy. Pinto Colvig (Goofy) did the voice of two of the Dwarfs.

The film was reissued eight times, in 1944, 1952, 1958, 1967, 1975, 1983, 1987, and 1993, and released on video in 1994. The film received a special Academy Award® in 1939 consisting of one full-size Oscar® and seven dwarf Oscars, all presented to Walt Disney by Shirley Temple.
